My Musts Of The Month: January 2021

Happy New Year!

It’s 2021 already?! And yet, everything feels the same as last year 🙈.

Still, there are a lot of new things to get excited about, and these are some of my favourites from the past month:

This Is Season Five

A new year means a new season of This Is Us. Season 5 premiered at the end of last year, but we were only given two episodes before the Christmas break. Now the Pearsons are back with a bang, with new plot twists, cliff-hangers, pick-a-side arguments, and love stories to sink your teeth into. If you’ve never watched this award-winning show yet, you really are missing out!

New Year, New Music

Taylor Swift released two new surprise albums in the second half of 2020, but she saved a couple of bonus tracks for 2021. My favourite of the two new tracks – released earlier this month – is Right Where You Left Me. It’s a beautiful, haunting tune that reminds me of The Script’s The Man Who Can’t Be Moved. This track, along with 17 other story-telling songs, can be found on Swift’s 10th album, Evermore, which was released back in December 2020.

Plus Point

Soul is the latest Disney animation that is available exclusively on Disney Plus (a streaming service that is worth every penny for Disney/Pixar/Disney Channel lovers). Although it was released in December 2020, most of us were too busy watching Christmas films to notice. But I managed to watch it earlier this year, and I’d definitely recommend it. The film follows Joe Gardner; a man whose only dream is to play jazz. When he finally gets the gig of a lifetime, he finds himself in a place called ‘The Great Before’ unable to find a way to reunite his lost soul with his body. This heart-warming film reminds us that we only get one life, and we shouldn’t let it pass by, but we should live it to the full.

Acoustic Vibes

Elevation Worship released their hugely popular album, Graves Into Gardens, in early 2020. It was a very timely album – and still is – with some seriously powerful songs. Now, the Grammy-nominated group have released a second version of the album, entitled, Graves Into Gardens: Morning and Evening. This new release features beautifully stripped-back arrangements of songs from the original album. Both albums are well worth a listen.

That’s all for this month. As always, let me know which of these you check out!

Have a lovely new year; life is what you make it.

With Love, Abi X
