Review: Imbue Curls

Note: Although all the products in this review were gifted to me, everything I write is true. As always, I would never promote or advertise a company and/or products I do not love.

Imbue Curls is a new haircare company specialising in products for the curly-haired girl. Imbue, which means: ‘to inspire or permeate with a feeling or quality’, aims to do just that, by helping women love and embrace their curly hair. They believe that kinks and curls should not be something to get rid of, but something to love, maintain and flaunt.

This philosophy caught my attention. Like me, most girls who have curly hair wanted straight hair as teenagers, for some reason. Maybe it was the fact that we only saw straight hair on movie stars and models. It took me a few years before I really started loving my curly hair. I am all about embracing your natural God-given looks. However, maintaining curly hair is extremely difficult, so when I discovered Imbue, I was more than a little intrigued.

In addition to the fact that they empower women, the company is also completely cruelty-free and vegan, pledging to help the environment, as well as hair. Yes, I know, they sound perfect! But how good are their products really? I had to find out!

To find out what I thought about The Shampoo, The Conditioner and The Leave In Conditioning Spray, check out my vlog review here: Imbue Haircare Review.

The Shine Oil: Curl Worshipping Shine Oil

Rating: 3.5/5

Reason: The Coconut, Cupuaçu (a tropical plant), Avocado and Grapeseed make this product sound (and smell) great! It is meant to hydrate and replenish your curls, and whilst I am sure it does, it is also a little on the sticky side. Although it is not as sticky as similar products – and it is definitely more lightweight -, I could still feel it in my hair.

The Hair Mask: Curl Restoring Intensive Mask

Rating: 5/5

Reason: This is my favourite of the lot. The instructions recommend using a ‘generous amount’, and leaving it in damp hair for 5-10 minutes before washing it out. If using nearly half the tub is a ‘generous amount’ then I definitely did! I also left it in for just 2.5 minutes (I’m impatient!), but I still reaped the benefits; just imagine how much better it would have been if I left it in for longer! Like all the other Imbue Curls products, this one smelled amazing. But the aroma was only the cherry on top, as this hair mask left my hair looking and feeling great! I can’t wait to use it again (properly this time).

The Hydration Serum: Curl Energising Hydration Serum

Rating: 4/5

Reason: Another great product that left my curls do the talking. It was non-greasy, lightweight, and prompted a few compliments!

The Crème Gel: The Curl Empowering Crème Gel

I am yet to use this crème gel, but if the other items in this amazing range are anything to go by, then I’m sure this product will also be nothing short of fabulous!

Overall, I genuinely love this collection of haircare heroes, and I definitely recommend my fellow curly-haired girls to check them out here.

Proof of perfect (natural) curls:

With Love, Abi X
