Lockdown Life: Shows to Watch (or Re-watch) This Season

header

Lockdown seems to be slowly lifting. But whilst you still have the chance, here are some totally binge-worthy, streamable (is that a word? Well, I’m making it a word) shows to watch – or re-watch – before it’s time to go back to reality.

All these shows can be found on either Amazon Prime or Netflix UK.

This Is Us (Amazon Prime)

I have recommended this TV show so many times on this blog, on my vlog, on my social media pages and in person; so if you don’t get it by now, I give up. Just watch episode one and it will be enough to make you want more.

Gilmore Girls (Netflix)

I grew up watching this when it was on Nickelodeon, and have now rewatched the entire show on Netflix. It’s a cute, much-loved, hilarious and heart-warming series well-worth a watch. And be sure to check out it’s follow-on show filmed over a decade later entitled “A Year in the Life”, also on Netflix.

Gossip Girl (Netflix)

It’s one of those love-to-hate shows. These high school kids are like sin personified. And, *spoiler alert* how could the person who ended up being GG actually be GG?! I’ll never get over that. But I guess it’s worth a watch. It’s super-easy to binge-watch too. You know you want to XOXO 😉

Alexa and Katie (Netflix)

All 4 seasons of this Netflix Original are available to stream, and can easily be done in a couple of days. The show follows Alexa – a teenager who is diagnosed with cancer the summer before she starts high school – and her best friend Katie, as they cope through all the things that teenage years bring, and then some. It’s rare to find a TV show or film that deals with a heart-breaking illness in a positive and upbeat way, so it is a good-watch for all ages.

One Tree Hill (Amazon Prime)

I’m only halfway through season one of this show, but it has a huge fan base, and has been recommended to me by many different people, so it speaks for itself really.

Glee (Netflix)

Seasons 1 to 3 were SO GOOD, seasons 4 and 5 were okay, but most of season 6 was a bit of a trainwreck. However, it’s worth watching for the musical performances and cool and quirky covers alone.

Never Have I Ever (Netflix)

never have I ever

I just love that there is a mainstream, popular, hilarious Western show that has a Tamil protagonist! It’s an easy watch, and the whole season can be binged in a day or so.

Once Upon A Time (Netflix)

Season 1 of this show is excellent, and so addictive! It’s a timeless (pun not intended) show where you see your favourite fairytale characters like never before.

The Crown (Netflix)

The Crown

Heavy is the head that wears the crown is right, alright! This show focuses on the Royal family, from the time our current queen was a little girl, all the way up to recent years. It’s a great watch for all history-lovers and Royalists. The majority of the popular show’s storylines are factually accurate, although, there has been a lot of creative freedom, so a lot of it should be taken with a pinch of salt!

Friends (Netflix)

Friends Frame

OF COURSE! There is no such thing as “I’ve-watched-this-episode-too-many-times” with this show. Could it BE any better?

Highly-recommended TV shows that I am yet to watch:

The Office (Amazon Prime)

Both the British version and the American version of this comedy are so highly-acclaimed, I still can’t believe I haven’t watched it yet.

The Big Bang Theory (Netflix)

bbt

Another highly-acclaimed show on my list of things to watch.

Grey’s Anatomy (Amazon Prime)

This popular, critically-acclaimed and highly-recommeneded show is loved by close friends and favourite singers (Taylor Swift named her cats after characters on this show) alike, but I’m yet to watch it. I feel like it may be too sad for my liking as I hear pretty much everyone dies 🙃.

Dawson’s Creek (Amazon Prime)

This 90s classic, featuring Katie Holmes and many other big names, is next on my list of shows to watch.

How I Met You’re Mother (Netflix)

People say this is up there with Friends, so I definitely need to watch it and judge it for myself.

Downton Abbey (Amazon Prime)

This quintessentially British show is so highly-rated all across the globe, it even has a movie that hit cinemas late last year! I’ll be watching this with a cup of tea and biscuits as soon as possible.

Sweet Magnolias (Netflix)

sm

I cannot wait to watch this new Netflix Original! This series is loosely based on the cult classic, Steel Magnolias, and the books of the same name.

Let me know if I’ve missed out any must-watch shows that are available on either of these streaming platforms! And remember, if you need a movie to watch, you can find an array of options right here.

Happy watching!

With Love, Abi X
