The Christmas countdown continues! And with just over two weeks until the big day, this week’s post is dedicated to the unmissable events taking place in London this festive season.
Christmas Markets
These are always fun to check out, and you might even find a present or two. Filled with a variety of treasures, ranging from ornaments and decorations to clothes and food, there is always a new Christmas market to browse. Make sure to visit the Leicester Square Christmas Market which also has a Spiegeltent, featuring live music, fire-breathers and a whole host of entertainment. Also be sure to check out the fantastic array of markets within the famous Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park; and while you’re there, why not make the most of it by enjoying delicious food and drink options, exploring the fun houses, and jumping on a ride or two?
Riverside Igloos
Cosy up with loved ones at the infamous Coppa Club Igloos. The Tower Bridge restaurant’s riverside pop-ups are back for another year where guests will be able to hibernate from the cold with warm blankets, fairylights, and music, as well as a range of mouth-watering dishes and drinks from the restaurant. The Instagrammable setting which features stunning views of London is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Christmastime in the city.
Immersive Cinemas
Festive films are a must this season, but instead of the mundane Netflix in bed, why not head out to a pop-up cinema with friends? This year, the ever-popular Backyard Cinema returns with ‘Winter Night Garden’; a brand-new wintery adventure. Guests will be able to explore a winter forest before settling down to watch their favourite film with treats such as popcorn and hot chocolate. Films include festive favourites like Elf, The Holiday, and Home Alone. For something a little different, head to the Floating Cinema at St Katherine Docks, where guests will be able to watch Christmas movies whilst on a floating pontoon on a picturesque marina – make sure to wrap up warm though! Mulled wine and hot chocolate can be enjoyed whilst watching The Muppet Christmas Carol, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Love Actually, or Home Alone 2.
Carols
Christmas without Christmas carols? It just wouldn’t be the same. Churches up and down the country will be conducting awesome carol services once again. Not to be missed is the annual Hillsong Carols taking place at the Dominion Theatre on December 15th. Also be sure to check out Carols at the Royal Albert Hall, also on the 21st.
As well as all of this, make sure to check out the dazzling Christmas lights shining throughout London, as well as the creative Christmas trees and pretty pop-ups scattered across the city. My personal favourites include the pop-ups in Covent Garden, the lights in Canary Wharf, and of course the famous Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square.
As always, be sure to include your favourite places to visit during Christmas in the comment section below.
With Love, Abi X
